ShotX Privacy Policy

1. On-Device Processing

All core capabilities of ShotX—including screen capturing, Apple Vision OCR text recognition, barcode/QR code reading, video recording, and sensitive data auto-redaction—operate locally utilizing your device's CPU, GPU, and Apple Neural Engine.

ShotX does not use external cloud APIs, cloud AI processing services, or vendor upload endpoints. No screen pixels, extracted text strings, or video frames are ever transmitted across the internet.

2. System Permissions & App Sandbox

ShotX is fully sandboxed in compliance with Apple Mac App Store guidelines. It requests only the minimal system permissions strictly required for user-initiated workflows:

• Screen Recording: Required by macOS to capture selected screen pixels, windows, or display recordings.
• Accessibility: Required solely to register user-configured global keyboard shortcuts when the application is running and suppress default macOS capture overlays. ShotX operates within macOS App Sandbox isolation and does not intercept, monitor, or record general keystrokes or arbitrary typing input.
• User-Selected Files & Folders: Read and write permissions are limited strictly to files you explicitly open, edit, or choose as custom canvas backgrounds and export destinations.

ShotX never requests access to your Camera, Microphone, Contacts, Calendar, Photos library, or Location services.

3. Privacy-Respecting Diagnostics & Telemetry

ShotX does not track personal identities or monetize user activity. In current releases, ShotX contains zero third-party advertising SDKs and does not collect screen contents. Standard anonymous crash reports and essential system diagnostics may be processed strictly to diagnose technical failures and optimize application stability.

4. Local Data Storage & User Control

When local history is enabled, capture files and an atomic index are stored exclusively in your local user directory:

You maintain 100% ownership of your data at all times. You can delete individual history records, clear all non-favorites, disable local history entirely, or delete the Application Support folder at any time.

5. Metadata Sanitization in Exports

Images exported through the ShotX Canvas Editor are newly encoded directly by the CoreGraphics engine and intentionally strip source EXIF, device metadata, and GPS location coordinates, ensuring your exported visuals are clean and safe for public sharing.
